Mom's Weekend in Lake Geneva

I just had the most fun getaway with some fellow moms in Lake Geneva.

One night, no kids, no husbands, just the ladies and a great mini vacay to one of the most popular spots within a few hours of Madison. I can't take the credit for planning - that goes to our fearless leader, Jen, but we had such a fun time, I wanted to share some of the spots we checked out so you can replicate your own weekend away from it all!

STAY

We stayed at a great Airbnb about 10 minutes outside of Lake Geneva. It was reasonably priced, was super clean, had everything we needed for an overnight. 3 large bedrooms and 3 full baths, large screen porch overlooking a small pond and kitchen stocked with all the necessities.

EAT

We started our weekend with lunch at Simple Cafe. Lots of unique takes on breakfast staples, I enjoyed the eggs sardou, a few of us had the Korean BBQ Breakfast Bowl, and the Kimchi Reuben got rave reviews.

We grabbed brunch at Egg Harbor Cafe which was packed all Sunday morning. It's right on the main drag - literally on West Main St. You can call ahead to get your name on the list, which shortened our wait time for a table. The ambiance is pretty boisterous and we wished we could have ordered much more from the huge breakfast menu. I had the classic avocade toast and a refreshing blueberry-lemonade mimosa.

We couldn't NOT stop for fudge at Kilwin's where I think we sampled every flavor. The mint chocolate fudge was my fave, but the chocolate peanut butter, double chocolate and sea salt caramels were popular choices as well. We may have left with a slice of each...

PLAY

What's a mom's weekend without wine tasting? We booked a tasting at Studio Winery (which is also a distillery and music studio) and sampled the "sweet heart" wines. Most of these were too sweet for my palate, but the Amadeus semi-dry was the one we all left with. It's an eclectic and clearly a popular spot, as many groups arrived as we were tasting, and the 4:00pm tasting was sold out.

After the vino, we headed back to Main Street to try our hand or nose rather at making our own custom candle scents. At the Candle Mercantile, we smelled so many scents - maybe 100 or more? - and made a list of our favorites. We then chose our top 3 or the 3 we wanted to try together. My perfectionism made it tough for me to narrow in on my 3, but it was fun to try different scent combinations (except when I inhaled too deeply and the fragrance went up my nose - peppercorn scent and all lol). We each then made our own candle complete with name.

DRINK

Since I've been following Maxwell Mansion on Instagram, I was excited to check out their Speakeasy. Unfortunately, the "secret" speakeasy wasn't open when we dropped by but we got some great margaritas at the Apothecary which we sipped in the lounge of this historic 1856 hotel. I'll definitely be back to check out the Speakeasy!

Lake Geneva was such a fun little getaway for the mamas. It would be great for a couples weekend, bachelorette, and of course there are so many things for the whole family as well. The only thing that would have made it better was another night!
